Description

The Client Coverage Internship is a 10-week summer programme based in Johannesburg. You will sit within the Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) division, acting as the bridge between the bank and its most influential clients (governments, corporations, and financial institutions). The programme is "skills-first," focusing on your potential rather than just your degree, and serves as a pipeline for their full-time Graduate Programme starting in 2027.

Responsibilities

• You will be placed into either Corporate Coverage or Financial Institutions Coverage, focusing on one of two specific roles: Assistant Relationship Manager (Track) Support Senior Relationship Managers in executing deals
• Coordinate between clients and product partners (Trade, Cash, etc
• )
• Handle account planning and business approvals
• Identify new business opportunities through assigned sales responsibilities
• Credit Analyst (Track) Conduct deep-dive financial, industry, and credit risk analysis
• Assist in structuring deals and monitoring existing client portfolios
• Evaluate environmental, sustainability, and reputational risks
• Gain technical knowledge of CIB products and their structures

Qualifications

• To be eligible for this role, you must meet the following criteria: Academic Status: You must be a penultimate year student (second to last year of your degree)
• Timeline: Available to intern in June 2026 and ready to start a full-time role in July 2027
• Legal Status: Permanent legal right to work in South Africa
• Academic Profile: Strong academic performance and active extracurricular involvement
• Soft Skills: * Analytical thinking and high attention to detail
• Agility, resilience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced team
• Excellent communication and project management skills
